Lily's blue-purple eyes met Kasey's pink-navy in a tense glare. Or, as close to a glare as Lily could come. The delinquent scoffed at their silent argument, causing the cigarette in his snout to flick slightly. Lily didn't lighten up, furrowing his brow further. He'd win. He always won their conflicts!

“God, princess, it's not like it's hurting you.”
“Jesus, Kasey! It affects me! You taste like an ashtray.” Giving a frustrated sigh, he gently flicked the cigarette from Kasey's mouth, watching it fall to the cement under the cold bench they were seated on. With a small huff, he stomped it out, grabbing Kasey's hand to tug him towards the library door.

Kasey growled slightly, stumbling after the nimble fennec fox. “How long're we gonna be here?”
“However long I want.”
“Who shit in your breakfast?!”
“Maybe you left a cigarette butt.”

The pink and grey fennec fox glared at everybody who walked past them. Toddlers, old ladies, library staff, everybody. With a heavy sigh, he leaned against his boyfriend's chest, the book on owls apparently forgotten in his frustration. Lily had his scarf folded like a pillow, resting gently behind his head, curving out an imprint in the beanbag chair.

“What'cha readin', princess?”
“It's a book about a lawyer and his little girl growing up in a racist, southern-”
“Didn't we read that in school?”
“Doesn't mean I didn't want to reread it.”
